Home schooling, what a great concept! It can be a simple task or a more detailed job. It really all depends on scheduling your time properly as well as how involved you want to become. There are many who enjoy the benefit of spending this special time of learning with their children through this method.

To be successful at home schooling your child, you must first consider all the elements that are involved. Think through these clearly and then be sure to implement them in your daily routine.

Creating An Environment For Learning

One of the most important things to consider when deciding if home schooling is right for you and your child, is to look at your home and ask yourself if you have an area that can be used for this purpose. Noise and other distractions can cause a disruption in your school day, so be sure the space you choose is conducive to learning.

Using a white marker board is a key to successful schooling at home. Problems may be worked on the board or other examples in writing can be shown. Scheduling the activities of the day and listing them, help both you and your child stay focused and on track with the assignments. Incorporate a shelf in your learning area to hold all school related materials.

Provide both yourself and your child a comfortable place in which to work. A table or desk at the right level and a comfortable chair should be used. This will help the school experience to stay real to your child. A comfortable child will be excited about learning.

Scheduling Your Day With Lesson Plans And School Materials

When home schooling your child, it is key that you or someone acts as the teacher. Planning the day’s events and being sure these tasks are adhered to, is vital to successful home learning. Constant watch should be kept that your child is up to speed with other children his or her age and grade level. Here are three options to consider:

1. A tutor may be hired. He or she will come to your home for a couple of hours a day and bring the school work and plans for each day’s lessons. If you work outside the home, this is a unique way in which you may still be an active part in monitoring the progress of your child.

2. Purchase learning materials on your own. This can easily be done on line. Study the different options available before committing to a source. Talk with other home schooling parents for advice and remember there are many support groups which you may join. Home schooling books and workbooks make an excellent choice as the lesson plans are already created for you and can help you stay up to date.

3. If you have the creativity and desire, you may create lesson plans from scratch. Be sure to know in advance the things your child should be learning. Two of the main ingredients that are required in order to be successful at home schooling are self discipline and excellent management skills. Work to become the best you can at both.

Last of all, consider home schooling your child through the means of an internet home school program. Many have been quite successful using the internet as a means to teach their child. To make home schooling a thing you and your child will look back on with fond memories, stay in touch with internet home schooling support groups. The helpful tips from seasoned home schooling parents will be of great benefit and value.

Home study is a serious issue to getting the head start. It demands a fixed routine, perseverance and diligence to stick to the routine that the parent, tutor or yourself, has laid out for you. You just getting the head start would be good for life. You would have deadlines to meet, and projects too to do. You just have to stay focused.

There would be a batch of books and textbooks that you would have to purchase and use through the course of the year, and some guidelines that you would have to follow on the instructions in the free home school book. This would be the information for your guidelines to follow, for you to pass the subjects you have chosen for that year. As every year passes, you would need a new free home school book as every grade or level of study would be different and require different guidelines.

Getting The Head Start

It is not easy to stick to studying at home, as you think you are more relaxed, you tend to be more lax. Considering you don’t need to get dressed or travel, which could save you time, but instead you would normally land up wasting that time by probably sleeping later or dawdling.

So it would prove wiser to stick to the hints too from the free home school book. Yes, stick to the same time you would normally get up in the morning and start at the same time you would have started school.

By following this hint in the free home school book you will soon find that you are way ahead or finished from others who are still at school. Then the next best tip in the free home school book would be to start reading, even one chapter per day, a variety of the subjects by all means, but read, and keep the free home school book and home school resource book next to your bedside as you would a bible.

Of all the things you would need for studying at home, the home school resource book would be your biggest help. It would contain vital information about where and when examinations are set to be written, as they would have to be written at an institution where there are invigilators too, just like school.

They would also contain lists of subjects required to be taken and what grades you need to pass them. There would be tutor contact information in them too, should you require assistance, or they could also have a website for online help. Yes, this is the most pertinent information you would need, next to having your textbooks.

Homeschooling is defined as providing a child’s main education at home. Although this topic has been one of great debate by both critics and supporters, families continue to choose the option of educating their child in the comfort and privacy of their own home. If you are considering this method of learning, keep the following tips in mind:

Consider various teaching options. As a parent, you can often homeschool your child on your own or you may enlist the help of a professional tutor, which is a private teacher who typically teaches one child or a small group of children. In some cases, a child may also participate in independent study programs that are made available through a school.

Make sure the curriculum is approved. If you plan to homeschool your child, you will need to request a curriculum package containing an approved course of study. It’s important that parents make sure the program they use to educate their child is one that’s approved by their state and/or board of education.

Make learning fun. In order for a child to get the most benefit from homeschooling, many believe that visits to the library, museums and other cultural outings can help the student to learn more effectively. This is one of the reasons why public schools often participate in field trips, which allow the children to see a location up close and personal as it relates to their program of study.

Prepare your child for college. Studies have shown that children who learn at home are just as likely to attend a higher learning institution as other students, which means parents who participate in homeschooling will need to prepare their youngster for this change. A homeschooled child who wishes to apply for college must submit a copy of his/her ACT or SAT test scores. As for transcripts, children who gained their education at home may submit records from their supervising high school or correspondence course.

Get everything in writing. As a parent who wishes to homeschool your child, you are required to file the appropriate paperwork with either a local or state education agency. For more information on this topic, you can consult with your county’s board of education or your school’s principal. The name and age of the student must be given, along with lesson plans in some cases. Currently, parents are not required to have a teaching certificate in order to educate their child at home, but it’s important to check with your state’s laws regarding homeschooling as they may vary by state.

One final note: It is very important for home schooled children to be properly socialized with other children. Playing with kids their own age they can learn valuable social skills that will help them become more successful later in life.

It should not be used as, in place of or in conjunction with professional legal or educational advice relating to homeschooling and/or the laws relating to this subject. For more information, consult with your local or state education agency.

Article by Zach Doherty – Clivir Team

Certainly, home school education programs has garner positive responses among parents. In America alone, the number of homeschooled students rise up to 2 million. This is very significant.

More and more parents are choosing to home school their children. As parents get to spend more time together with their children, they also have the opportunity to guide their children from studying, to doing their home works and help them realize their strengths and also their weaknesses. What is lacking with formal education is the personal touch that homeschooling provides. Moreover, parents can avoid untoward incidents from happening like bullying and other school related violence.

Home schooling encourages both parent and child to develop their communication and nurture a deeper relationship to each other. In addition, parents and children can choose and identify the most appropriate schedule of classes and the topics to be discussed. It is important not to limit the learning process at home. Try to go out once in a while to explore like going to museums and zoos so that children can understand better the world

Providing a conducive venue for children is as vital as his/her education. Though a formal classroom setup is not really required, find a place at home where you and your child will be comfortable to learn and study. It can be the garden especially when the topic is life sciences or the playground when studying about different parts of the body. Take into consideration the surrounding. Is it child – proof? What will my child learn from here? Planning ahead is vital in home school education.

The parent (as the teacher) must adopt good teaching and personal relations to the child (as the student) and inspire the child to be motivated and determined throughout the whole course. Test sheets and other tasks and activities will reflect the child’s progress and will determine in which area or topic that the parent and child should work harder. It is the best to involve your child to decision – making process and voice out their opinions. Both should work together and be open to suggestions. However, the parent has the bigger responsibility to teach this character to the child. By saying so, the parents will open the communication line to his/her child thus one of the best benefits of home schooling.

Yes, home schooling can be challenging. But it can also be rewarding. It improves relationship and bond. It facilitates familiarization with each other.

Although it might sound stressing, home-based education needs a lot of energy, hard work as well as creativity, patience and innovation. At the end of the day, we will be rewarded with children that are developed holistically and will succeed later on in life.

Article by Zach Doherty – Clivir Team

To simply define home school education, it is conducting lessons at home where the parents and tutors pose as the primary educators. According to the latest statistics, there are about 2 million students that are homeschooled in America alone and the figures are rapidly increasing.

Before the enormous academic institutions has even started, the home school education system has begun. As the old adage goes, “the home is the first school of children while their parents are their first teacher” holds so much truth. Unless parents are teachers, education at home provides alternative venue and option to teach children basic lessons such as colors, shapes, and basic math and science as well formative values.

Probably the best thing about this approach is that the parent and child are able to spend more time together. Rapport and bonding are deepened by their mutual understanding and familiarization. Apparently, it is easier for parents and tutors to customize the discussion because they can simply identify the child’s interests and individual learning needs. They are also able to monitor their children and work with them closely. The following are found to benefit and create impact on homeschooled children and parents as well:

1. Individualized Attention – as previously mentioned, parents can closely supervise the child’s progress

2. Freedom to Diversify – Parents and tutors can customize the lessons according to what they feel and think is right to teach the child. Parents should take note that Home school education still follows particular federal policies and laws.

3. Social Adjustment – Children find extra-curricular activities exciting and fun. Incorporating field trip with cousins of same age, or trip to museums with a kid next door is a fun way to learn. It will also help children overcome lack of social interaction as critics say of this method of teaching.

4. Family Bonding – as compared to traditional schools, since home schooled children stay with their parents most of the time, there are more time for family bonding

5. A Good Education – this is not applicable to academics only but also with the values and morals formation of the child

When considering this approach to your children, it helps that the entire family is involved in the decision – making process as well the discussions, activities and other home school components (such as field trips, trip to museum, zoos and playgrounds) as well. Make sure that you assess your financial capability to help you foresee the cost of home schooling your child. If having financial issues, there are free down-loadable home school materials found in the internet. Families who have tried home schooling have good lessons and experiences to share. So talking to these families will help you visualize what you are putting yourself into.

Truly, for home school education to work, parents need to be sensitive and conscious to the child’s needs. Although it has been proven that this type of methodology is beneficial to children, the parent must always assess the development of the child to make sure that the home school education fits their children.

Article by Luvi Marie

More and more kids today are getting a home school education and the reasons for the increase vary but there seem to be two main reasons why parents are pulling their kids from public schools and giving them a home school education. The public education system in the United States is making national, and international, news with its outdated text books and school buildings that are falling apart.

A home school education not only ensures that the parents have complete control over the quality of the materials being used but they also have control with the learning conditions that their children are exposed to. A home school education means that the parents can have complete control over the quality of the conditions that their children are forced to learn under and many parents like it that way.

Ever since the shootings in Columbine High School in Colorado it seems that violence in our public education system is getting worse and worse. Recently there was the incident at a public school in Finland where a student, inspired by events in the United States, shot and killed students and teachers.

With the problem of school violence spreading to become a worldwide epidemic, more parents are turning to a home school education as a way of making sure their children get an education without the growing threats that come from going to a public school. It was thought that private schools may be safer but when an Amish school was attacked and innocent children killed just a couple of years ago many parents to the initiative to get their children a home school education.

What You’re Missing

A home school education may sound like the quick and easy solution but in most cases, the state education board in the state you live in still has to approve the situation in order for the parents to avoid action by the state for keeping the children out of public or private school. The teacher that will be teaching the children must be certified to be a home teacher, the textbooks to be used must be approved by the state, and there must be a curriculum approved by the state before the child will be allowed to be pulled out of public or private schooling. It all sounds like the quick and easy solution but the state you live in has safe guards against neglectful parents that may be using a home school education as a way to deny their child an education.

Going to school with classmates both good and bad is one of the very important things that help a child develop crucial social skills that will come into play later in their lives. When a child is home schooled they miss out on that interaction with other children. If your child is athletically inclined then they will be unable to participate in school team and individual sports. There are many advantages to home schooling but there are just as many developmental issues to consider for a growing child that is being denied access to the social network that a public or private school offers.

Home schooling is a choice many parents are making in today’s world of school violence and oppression by the children in the public schools. They have decided to provide a better education for their children and have begun to home school them. One of the programs that can be used for home school is Saxon Math. Like other home school programs Saxon Math, is a self-contained fully integrated program for teaching your child math with all the books, tests and worksheet materials you will need.

It differs from the programs taught in schools and other home school programs in that t uses old math. This is an encouraging matter for parents who learned with the old concepts and old terminology. It also has a very good rating among teachers of math.

The Saxom math home school program is designed to teach your child new concepts each day and then require them to practice what they have learned before. Thus providing a better learned base of math skills for the child learning math. Many teachers and home school parents prefer this method of teach as it requires the student to continue to work on the underlying math concepts and truly understand how they integrate.

The underlying retraining program has been hailed by teachers as providing higher test scores and a real understanding of math concepts in the students who are trying to learn. The repetition of the math information already learned has a salutary effect. This is not a new concept, its been used for many years to teach children. The repetition with the continued use of the knowledge has produced very good results for the Saxon math home school program.

While we are discussing the Saxon math home school program, they have additional programs to teach other subjects. If the home school parent, who is definitely trying to give their child and edge up in their education, find this Saxon math home school program effective for them as the teacher and effective for their child’s learning, it would behoove them to look at the other programs available. One thing to remember is that children and their education are not one-size-fits-all.

It is best to evaluate each child separately and determine what works for that child and what does not. Since you want to provide your child the benefits of a superior education, it would be in your best interests to review what other people say about this program. Like all home school programs that are for a fee, people have used them and can provide you their opinion of the Saxon math home school program.

Most people would be of the opinion that the idea of having home school programs is a fairly recent phenomenon. Nothing could be further from the truth. Up until 1852, when Massachusetts passed a compulsory school attendance law, children who received any education followed home school programs. Parents used the Bible as a tool to teach reading and writing, and other skills were learned through life experiences and the tutorage of elders.Public schools began to be established during the 19th century to provide education for orphans who had no parents to educate them. Before public schools were introduced, lots of children were educated with home school programs or in private schools. Illiteracy was rife at this time, and the majority of children were never adequately educated.

By 1918 similar compulsory education laws had been adopted in all states. Little opposition to these laws occurred until the 1960′s and 70′s when parents began to question the public education system. They began to investigate alternative methods of educating their children. As a result, home schooling is legal in 50 states. Regulations and laws vary state to state and if you are considering home school programs you need to check your state laws carefully.

Who chooses to home school their children? Many parents choose to run home school programs for religious or moral reasons. Some parents have concerns about the school environment (drugs, bullying, or safety) or have other reasons to choose home school programs. Apart from instructing your children in reading, writing and math, you need to address their social development as well. This can be achieved through interacting with other home schooled children, or through church and sporting activities. Education is not only about literacy and numeracy instruction. It is about ensuring that your child develops socially, emotionally and psychologically in a well-balanced manner.

Whatever the reason you have to choose to home school your children, you must follow a curriculum to ensure that your child receives a good education. Parents are not trained teachers, and they need specialist help in delivering lessons. If you wish to send your children on to further education, they will need to pass standardized tests. In order to pass these tests your child must follow the state curriculum.

There are many programs available to help parents to home school successfully, and many teachers in regular schools use these resources too. Classroom phonics programs are a very valuable resource for teachers and parents.

Mcruffy Press publish great resources for classroom phonics that can be used for home school programs. Teaching your child to read needs a sound base that can be achieved through using phonics activities. The web site details the resources available to use to teach classroom phonics when you choose to home school. Included are teacher’s manuals that detail daily lesson plans that are easy to follow, work books that cover spelling, phonics activities, comprehension and assessment. The resource pack contains flash cards necessary to use with phonics activities.

Mcruffy Press was founded by Brian Davis, a former elementary school teacher. The products offered by Mcruffy Press help parents as teachers to deliver lessons appropriate to their children’s learning styles. The web site allows you to download a sample of the programs available, which is an excellent way to preview the resources. Classroom phonics and phonics activities are not the only resources available from Mcruffy Press. They offer grade specific products focusing on reading, math, science, handwriting and spelling that cater for traditional classrooms and home school programs, targeting students from kindergarten to grade 4. Many schools throughout America choose these products for classroom phonics instruction.

Homeschooling programs, in our current context, means learning outside of a formal classroom setting. In its strictest sense, however, the words “home” and “school” are really not accurate. Most families who engage in homeschooling programs as a means of alternative learning delivery system use vast resources available in their environment. Contrary to popular notion, home schooling, especially high school homeschooling, is not an easy task. Home schooling programs involves commitment and dedication especially on the part of the parents and guardians to see to it that their child’s educational development can be at par with the formal public and private high school.

With the advent of the internet, homeschooling ventured in a different arena. Now, online school exists to meet the needs of people for online grade school, middle school, and high school courses. Indeed, online home school programs have been easily accessible. Through an online academy, private high school became just a click away. Online high school education include online middle school and other online high school courses that will render an online high school diploma upon completion of the homeschooling program.

But before you decide on which online high school you will enroll yourself or your child in, be equipped first with the advantages and disadvantages of home schooling, particularly in a virtual school. With emphasis on teenagers because theirs is the age bracket when they are very peer dependent, knowledge of advantages and disadvantages of homeschooling programs will help you decide if you will opt to go to a formal public or private high school or an online high school or virtual high school perhaps.

Advantages of Home Schooling1. One on one mentoring has been recognized worldwide to be an effective process in education. 2. The curriculum of homeschooling programs can be tailored fit to suit students individual needs. 3. Children on homeschooling programs do not need to wait for other students to finish their work, for teachers to move on to another subject, and for recess or lunch. In an online school, they can move at their own pace and still have time left over in the day to explore other fields of interests. 4. Home schooling strengthens family relationships. 5. Children that go to online high school are less probable to be peer pressured.

Disadvantages of Home Schooling 1. Home schooling requires full commitment in terms of time, effort, and energy of the parents as they will see to it that their children learn properly.2. Though home schooling, in one way or another, inhibit negative influences on home schoolers, children sometimes do not have as many friends as those going to traditional public or private high school. 3. Pressure on part of the parents to make their children within the same level as other kids despite the fact that they are in a homeschooling program.4. Home schooling entails cost unlike in a public school. Opting to go to an online school most of the time requires you to purchase a computer software as well as other resources available to parents. These and costs of field trips for home schooling kids. 5. Sooner or later, a child may want to go to a traditional school to fit in with other kids.

Whether you choose to go home schooling or not is completely up to you. Despite its disadvantages, do not be afraid to try home schooling. There are a lot of things that home schooling programs can offer. Check out what best works for you.

Article by Lee Dobbins

Home schooling has been around for quite some time now. The debate about it’s overall effectiveness has been going on for just as long. Recently however, home schooling has been gaining more and more advocates in support of it.

For the longest time, home schooling has been viewed with a somewhat contemptuous attitude by many. They’re under the misguided notion that this type of schooling is for weirdoes and social misfits.

People these days are much more open minded about the idea of home schooling. Lots more parents are choosing to put their kids in some kind of home based program.

So what are the possible reasons for parents to home school their kids? What are the advantages and disadvantages of home schooling? Is it right for your child and what must be taken into consideration when choosing to home school your child?

Home schooling has traditionally been for those children who suffer from some kind of condition or whose current circumstances don’t allow them to attend regular school. However, more and more parents are choosing to home school their children because they believe it to be a more beneficial alternative to traditional schools.

There are a lot of advantages to be taken from this type of schooling.

Home schooling allows a child be taught in a more individualized way. The child will not have to compete with several other students for the time and attention of the teacher. Their parent is their teacher and the one-on-one teaching that the child receives will increase the quality of learning.

The nature of this schooling allows for an incredible amount of flexibility and freedom in regards to learning. The lessons and curriculum to be undertaken can be custom made to suit the particular educational needs of the child.

The child can also learn at their own pace, seeing as there’s no set schedule that must be followed. A child can take as much time as they need to learn something without being pressured, or they can go as quickly as they can, learning things that would normally take a much longer time to cover in a classroom.

In many cases home schooling will enforce an inherent love of learning and will strengthen the child abilities to learn on their own. These skill will become a valuable asset throughout their lives.

Many parents home school their kids in order to instill moral values that can’t be sufficiently achieved in traditional schools. This is especially true if they feel that the child is easily influenced and the schools in the area are a particularly bad influence.

Home schooling helps to cultivate family ties. The time that the family spend together teaching and learning helps to strengthen family bonds.

Thanks to more advanced technology and in particular the internet, home schooling has become even more effective. The internet is a vast source of knowledge and you can find a plethora of home schooling resources like sample curriculums, lesson plans, and all sorts of guides.

The greatest criticism aimed at home schooling is that it might hamper the child’s social growth. Home schooled kids tend to be more isolated and many feel that this is harmful.

This isn’t necessarily the case though, as studies have shown that many home schooled adults have excellent social skills and are living happy, meaningful lives.

These studies also show that home schooled individuals tend to do better academically than traditionally schooled individuals.

Despite the seemingly many benefits of home schooling, it isn’t for everyone. Parents should take in mind several considerations before taking the plunge.

Home schooling takes a tremendous amount of time and effort on the part of the parents.

Teaching will take up most of the teaching parent’s day, so this means that the they will most likely not have the time to work. The family must be able to cope with this situation. This is especially difficult for single parents.

Also, the parent must be sure that they will be able teach their child properly and handle all the possible problems and responsibilities that come with being home schooled.

Home schooling, when done right can have very positive results. However, getting it wrong can result in absolute disaster. Ultimately, it’s up to the parents to assess their child and decide if home schooling is the right choice for them.
